حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى بْنِ مَعْدَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَعْيَنَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْقِلٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ عَمِّهِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي كَعْبًا يُحَدِّثُ قَالَ
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَلَّمَا يُرِيدُ وَجْهًا إِلَّا وَرَّى بِغَيْرِهِ حَتَّى كَانَتْ غَزْوَةُ تَبُوكَ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَجَلَّى لِلنَّاسِ فِيهَا أَمْرَهُ وَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَتَأَهَّبَ النَّاسُ أُهْبَةَ غَزْوِهِمْ

✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to go in a direction, he would rarely do so without concealing it with another, until the expedition of Tabuk. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and made clear his intention to the people regarding it, and he wanted the people to prepare fully for their expedition.
