أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ وَالْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ ثَوْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْغَيْثِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ وَقَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ عَامَ حُنَيْنٍ فَلَمْ نَغْنَمْ إِلَّا الْأَمْوَالَ وَالْمَتَاعَ وَالثِّيَابَ فَأَهْدَى رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي الضُّبَيْبِ يُقَالُ لَهُ رِفَاعَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ غُلَامًا أَسْوَدَ يُقَالُ لَهُ مِدْعَمٌ فَتَوَجَّهَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى وَادِي الْقُرَى حَتَّى إِذَا كَانُوا بِوَادِي الْقُرَى بَيْنَمَا مِدْعَمٌ يَحُطُّ رَحْلَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِذْ جَاءَهُ سَهْمٌ فَأَصَابَهُ فَقَتَلَهُ فَقَالَ النَّاسُ هَنِيئًا لَهُ الْجَنَّةُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «كَلَّا وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّ الشَّمْلَةَ الَّتِي أَخَذَ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ مِنَ الْمَغَانِمِ لَمْ تُصِبْهَا الْمَقَاسِمُ لَتَشْتَعِلُ عَلَيْهِ نَارًا» فَلَمَّا سَمِعَ النَّاسُ ذَلِكَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ بِشِرَاكٍ أَوْ شِرَاكَيْنِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «شِرَاكٌ أَوْ شِرَاكَانِ مِنْ نَارٍ»

✧ We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Khaybar – and Muhammad said: in the year of Hunayn – and we did not gain as booty except wealth, goods, and clothes. A man from Banu al-Dubayb called Rifa'ah b. Zayd gave the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a black slave called Mid'am. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ headed to Wadi al-Qura, until when they were at Wadi al-Qura, while Mid'am was unloading the saddle of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, an arrow came and struck him and killed him. The people said, "Congratulations to him on Paradise!" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "No, by the One in whose hand is my soul, the cloak that he took on the day of Khaybar from the spoils before they were distributed will blaze upon him as fire." When the people heard that, a man came with a sandal strap or two sandal straps to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "A sandal strap or two sandal straps of fire."
