أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سَيَّارِ أَبِي الْحَكَمِ وَيَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْقَاضِي أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا عُبَادَةَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَمَّا سَيَّارٌ فَقَالَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَأَمَّا يَحْيَى فَقَالَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ «بَايَعْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى السَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ فِي عُسْرِنَا وَيُسْرِنَا وَمَنْشَطِنَا وَمَكْرَهِنَا وَالْأَثَرَةِ عَلَيْنَا وَأَنْ لَا نُنَازِعَ الْأَمْرَ أَهْلَهُ وَأَنْ نَقُومَ بِالْحَقِّ حَيْثُ كَانَ لَا نَخَافُ فِي اللهِ لَوْمَةَ لَائِمٍ» قَالَ شُعْبَةُ سَيَّارٌ لَمْ يَذْكُرْ هَذَا الْحَرْفَ حَيْثُ كَانَ وَذَكَرَهُ يَحْيَى قَالَ شُعْبَةُ إِنْ كُنْتُ زِدْتُ فِيهِ شَيْئًا فَهُوَ عَنْ سَيَّارٍ أَوْ عَنْ يَحْيَى

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ—and as for Yahya, he said: From his father, from his grandfather—he said: We pledged allegiance to the Messenger of God ﷺ to hear and obey in our hardship and ease, in our activity and reluctance, and in preference over us, and not to dispute the authority with its people, and to stand for the truth wherever it may be, not fearing, for the sake of God, the blame of any critic. Shu'bah said: Sayyar did not mention this phrase 'wherever it may be,' but Yahya mentioned it. Shu'bah said: If I added anything to it, it is from Sayyar or from Yahya.
