أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي غَزَاةٍ لَهُ فَنَزَلْنَا بِبَطْحَاءَ فَجَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ عَلَى بَكْرٍ لَهُ فَأنَاخَ وَعَقَلَ بِكْرَهُ فَرَأَى فِي الْقَوْمِ رِقَّةً فَرَجَعَ إِلَى بِكْرِهِ فَحَلَّهُ ثُمَّ رَكِبَهُ فَاتَّبَعَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ عَلَى نَاقَةٍ لَهُ وَاتَّبَعَتْهُ فَكَانَ الْأَسْلَمِيُّ عِنْدَ عَجُزِ الْبِكْرِ وَكُنْتُ أَنَا عِنْدَ عَجُزِ النَّاقَةِ فَسَبَقْتُهُ فَأَخَذْتُ بِخِطَامِ الْبِكْرِ فَقُلْتُ إِخْ فَلَمَّا أَرْسَلَ يَدَيْهِ ضَرَبْتُ عُنُقَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ قَتَلَ الرَّجُلَ؟» قَالُوا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ الْأَكْوَعِ قَالَ «فَلَهُ سَلَبُهُ أَجْمَعَ»

✧ We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on an expedition of his, and we camped in a wide plain. A bedouin came on a young camel of his, made it kneel, and hobbled it. He saw weakness in the people, so he returned to his young camel, untied it, then mounted it. A man from Aslam followed him on a she-camel of his, and it followed. The Aslami was at the hindquarters of the young camel and I was at the hindquarters of the she-camel. I overtook him and seized the young camel's nose-rein and said: 'Ikh!' When he released its forelegs, I struck his neck. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Who killed the man?" They said: Salamah ibn al-Akwaʿ. He said: "He gets all his spoils."
