أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ الْمُشْرِكِينَ لَمَّا رَهِقُوا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي سَبْعَةٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ وَرَجُلَيْنِ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ قَالَ «مِنْ يُرُدَّ هَؤُلَاءِ عَنَّا وَهُوَ رَفِيقِي فِي الْجَنَّةِ فَحَمَلَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقَاتَلَ حَتَّى قُتِلَ فَلَمَّا أُرْهِقُوا أَيْضًا» قَالَ «مَنْ يَرُدَّ هَؤُلَاءِ عَنِّي وَهُوَ رَفِيقِي فِي الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى قَتَلَ سَبْعَةً» فَقَالَ لِصَاحِبِيهِ «مَا أَنْصَفْنَا أَصْحَابَنَا»

✧ When the polytheists pressed upon the Messenger of God ﷺ while he was with seven of the Ansar and two men of Quraysh, he said, “Who will hold these back from us, and he will be my companion in Paradise?” A man of the Ansar charged and fought until he was killed. When they pressed again, he said, “Who will hold these back from me, and he will be my companion in Paradise?” until seven were killed. Then he said to his two companions, “We have not been fair to our companions.”
