أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمِّي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ صَالِحٍ وَذَكَرَ كَلِمَةً مَعْنَاهَا عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَنَّ حُمَيْدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ ابْنَةَ عُقْبَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ

أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَيْسَ الْكَذَّابُ الَّذِي يُصْلِحُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ فَيَنْمِي خَيْرًا أَوْ يَقُولُ خَيْرًا» قَالَتْ وَلَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ يُرَخَّصُ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنَ الْكَذِبِ مِمَّا يَقُولُ النَّاسُ إِلَّا فِي ثَلَاثٍ فِي الْحَرْبِ وَالْإِصْلَاحِ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ وَحَدِيثِ الرَّجُلِ امْرَأَتَهُ وَحَدِيثِ الْمَرْأَةِ زَوْجَهَا وَكَانَتْ أُمُّ كُلْثُومٍ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ اللَّاتِي بَايَعْنَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ

✧ She heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The liar is not the one who reconciles between people and conveys good or says good." She said: "And I did not hear him grant any concession in lying from what people say, except in three cases: in war, in reconciling between people, and in a man's talk to his wife and a woman's talk to her husband." Umm Kulthum was among the Muhajir women who gave allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
