✧ The burden on the enemy

أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ وَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ أَفَرَرْتُمْ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ؟ قَالَ الْبَرَاءُ «لَا وَلَكِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمْ يَفِرَّ فَكَانَتْ هَوَازِنُ رُمَاةً وَإِنَّا لَمَّا حَمَلَنَا عَلَيْهِمُ انْكَشَفُوا فَأَكْبَبْنَا عَلَى الْغَنَائِمِ فَاسْتَقْبَلُونَا بِالسِّهَامِ وَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى بَغْلَتِهِ الْبَيْضَاءِ وَإِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ آخِذٌ بِلِجَامِهَا» وَهُوَ يَقُولُ «أَنَا النَّبِيُّ لَا كَذِبْ أَنَا ابْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ»

✧ About the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Hunayn? Al-Bara' said: "No, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not flee. Hawazin were archers, and when we charged at them, they scattered, and we fell upon the spoils. Then they faced us with arrows. I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on his white mule, with Abu Sufyan b. al-Harith holding its bridle, while he was saying: 'I am the Prophet, no lie; I am the son of Abd al-Muttalib.'"
