✧ The killing of al-Asif.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى وَاللَّفْظُ لِعَمْرٍو عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الْمُرَقَّعِ بْنِ صَيْفِيٍّ عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ الْكَاتِبِ قَالَ

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي غَزْوَةٍ فَمَرَرْنَا بِامْرَأَةٍ مَقْتُولَةٍ وَالنَّاسُ عَلَيْهَا فَفرَجُوا لَهُ فَقَالَ «مَا كَانَتْ هَذِهِ تُقَاتِلُ الْحَقَ خَالِدًا» فَقُلْ لَهُ «لَا تُقْتَلْ ذُرِّيَّةً وَلَا عَسِيفًا»

✧ We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on an expedition and passed by a slain woman with people around her. They parted for him, and he said, "This woman was not one to fight. Catch up with Khalid and tell him not to kill any children or laborers."
