✧ Thaqif were allies of Banu Uqayl in pre-Islamic times. The Muslims captured a man from Banu Uqayl who had a she-camel with him. They brought him to the Prophet ﷺ. He said, 'O Muhammad, why have you captured me and taken the leading she-camel of the pilgrims?' He said, 'I captured you because of the crime of your allies Thaqif, for they had captured two Muslim men.' The Prophet ﷺ passed by while he was imprisoned, and he would say, 'O Muhammad, I am a Muslim.' He said, 'If you had said that when you were in control of your affair, you would have succeeded completely.' Then it occurred to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to ransom him for the two Thaqafis, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ransomed him for two Muslim men and kept the she-camel for himself.
