أَخْبَرَنِي زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ دَاوُدَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ بْنِ أَيْمَنَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ سَعْدًا قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَأَدْفَعَنَّ الرَّايَةَ غَدًا إِلَى رَجُلٍ يُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ يَفْتَحُ اللهُ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ» فَاسْتَشْرَفَ لَهَا أَصْحَابُهُ فَدَفَعَ إِلَى عَلِيٍّ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said: «I will surely hand the banner tomorrow to a man who loves God and His Messenger, and whom God and His Messenger love; God will grant victory at his hands.» His companions craned their necks for it, and he handed it to Ali.
