أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى عَنْ خَالِدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «سَارَ إِلَى بَدْرٍ فَاسْتَشَارَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَأَشَارَ عَلَيْهِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَشَارَهُمْ فَأَشَارَ عَلَيْهِ عُمَرُ» فَقَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ إِيَّاكُمْ يُرِيدُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذًا لَا نَقُولُ مَا قَالَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ لِمُوسَى فَاذْهَبْ أَنْتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَاتِلَا وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ لَوْ ضَرَبْتَ أَكْبَادَهَا إِلَى بَرَكِ الْغِمَادِ لَاتَّبَعْنَاكَ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ marched to Badr and consulted the Muslims. Abu Bakr gave him his opinion, then he consulted them again and Umar gave him his opinion. The Ansar said, "O company of the Ansar, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ means you." He said, "Then we will not say what the Children of Israel said to Musa: 'Go, you and your Lord, and fight. Indeed, we are sitting here.' By the One who sent you with the truth, if you were to strike their livers to Bark al-Ghimad, we would follow you."
