أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ جَارِيَةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

جَاءَ أُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ الْأَشْهَلِيُّ النَّقِيبُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَدْ كَانَ قَسَمَ طَعَامًا فَذُكِرَ لَهُ أَهْلُ بَيْتٍ مِنْ بَنِي ظَفَرٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فِيهِمْ حَاجَةٌ فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أُسَيْدُ تَرَكْتَنَا حَتَّى إِذَا ذَهَبَ مَا فِي أَيْدِينَا فَإِذَا سَمِعْتَ بِشَيْءٍ قَدْ جَاءَنَا فَاذْكُرْ لِي أَهْلَ ذَلِكَ الْبَيْتِ» قَالَ فَجَاءَهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ طَعَامٌ مِنْ خَيْبَرَ شَعِيرٌ وَتَمْرٌ قَالَ «فَقَسَمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي النَّاسِ وَقَسَمَ فِي الْأَنْصَارِ فَأَجْزَلَ وَقَسَمَ فِي أَهْلِ ذَلِكَ الْبَيْتِ» فَأَجْزَلَ فَقَالَ لَهُ أُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ مُسْتَشْكِرًا جَزَاكَ اللهُ أَيْ نَبِيَّ اللهِ أَطْيَبَ الْجَزَاءِ أَوْ قَالَ «خَيْرًا» فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «وَأَنْتُمْ مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَجَزَاكُمُ اللهُ أَطْيَبَ الْجَزَاءِ» أَوْ قَالَ «خَيْرًا فَإِنَّكُمْ مَا عَلِمْتُ أَعِفَّةٌ صُبُرٌ وَسَتَرَوْنَ بَعْدِي أَثَرَةً فِي الْأَمْرِ والْقَسْمِ فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّى تَلْقَوْنِي عَلَى الْحَوْضِ»

Translation

✧ Usayd b. Hudayr al-Ashhalī, the naqīb (representative of his clan), came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ after he had distributed some food. A household from Banu Zafar of the Ansar, who were in need, was mentioned to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Usayd, you left us until what was in our hands was gone. When you hear of something that has come to us, remind me of that household." He said: Later, food came to him from Khaybar, barley and dates. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ distributed it among the people, and distributed to the Ansar and gave generously, and distributed to that household and gave generously. Usayd b. Hudayr said to him, expressing gratitude, "May Allah reward you, O Prophet of Allah, with the best reward," or he said, "with good." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "And you, O company of the Ansar, may Allah reward you with the best reward," or he said, "with good, for you are, as I have known, chaste and patient. You will see after me selfishness in the matter and the distribution, so be patient until you meet me at the Hawd."
