أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ غَزْوَانَ وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ قَالَا أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ بْنِ شُبَيْلٍ عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

لَمَّا قَدِمْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ أَنَخْتُ رَاحِلَتَيَّ فَحَلَلْتُ عَيْبَتِي وَلَبِسْتُ حُلَّتِي وَدَخَلْتُ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَرَمَانِي النَّاسُ بِالْحَدَقِ فَقُلْتُ لِجَلِيسِي أَيْ عَبْدَ اللهِ هَلْ ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ أَمْرِي شَيْئًا؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ فَأَحْسَنَ الذِّكْرَ» قَالَ بَيْنَمَا هُوَ يَخْطُبُ إِذْ عَرَضَ لَهُ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ فَقَالَ «إِنَّهُ سَيَدْخُلُ عَلَيْكُمْ رَجُلٌ مَنْ هَذَا الْبَابِ مِنْ هَذَا الْفَجِّ مِنْ خَيْرِ ذِي يَمَنٍ وَإِنَّ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ مَسْحَةَ مَلَكٍ» قَالَ فَحَمِدْتُ اللهَ عَلَى مَا أَبْلَانِي اللَّفْظُ لِمُحَمَّدٍ

✧ When I arrived in Madinah, I made my riding camel kneel, untied my saddlebag, put on my suit, and entered while the Messenger of God ﷺ was addressing the people. The Messenger of God ﷺ greeted me, and the people stared at me. I said to the one sitting beside me, 'O servant of God, did the Messenger of God ﷺ mention anything about my affair?' He said, 'Yes, and he mentioned it well.' He said, 'While he was delivering the sermon, he paused and said, "A man from this door, from this mountain pass, from the best of Yemen will enter upon you, and on his face is the touch of an angel."' He said, 'So I praised God for what He had granted me.' The wording is that of Muhammad.
