أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ قَيْسٍ عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ

قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَلَا تُرِيحُنِي مِنْ ذِي الْخَلَصَةِ؟» قُلْتُ بَلَى فَانْطَلَقْتُ فِي خَمْسِينَ وَمِائَةِ فَارِسٍ مِنْ أَحْمَسَ وَكَانُوا أَصْحَابَ خَيْلٍ فَكُنْتُ لَا أَثْبُتُ عَلَى الْخَيْلِ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَضَرَبَ يَدَهُ عَلَى صَدْرِي فَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ ثَبِّتْهُ وَاجْعَلْهُ هَادِيًا مَهْدِيًّا» قَالَ «فَمَا قُلِعْتُ عَنْ فَرَسٍ قَطُّ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: 'Will you not relieve me of Dhu al-Khalasah?' I said: 'Yes.' So I set out with one hundred and fifty horsemen from Ahmas, who were cavalrymen. I was not steady on horseback, so I mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ. He struck his hand on my chest and said: 'O Allah, make him firm and make him a rightly guided guide.' He said: 'I was never thrown from a horse after that.'
