أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

كَسَرَتِ الرُّبَيِّعُ ثَنِيَّةَ جَارِيَةٍ فَطَلَبُوا إِلَيْهِمُ الْعَفْوَ فَأَبَوْا فَعُرِضَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْأَرْشُ فَأَتَوَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَمَرَ بِالْقِصَاصِ قَالَ أَنَسُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ «تُكْسَرُ ثَنِيَّةُ الرُّبَيِّعُ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ لَا تُكْسَرُ» قَالَ يَا أَنَسُ «كِتَابُ اللهِ الْقِصَاصُ» فَرَضِيَ الْقَوْمُ وَعَفَوْا قَالَ «إِنَّ مِنْ عَبَّادِ اللهِ مَنْ لَوْ أَقْسَمَ عَلَى اللهِ لَأَبَرَّهُ»

✧ Al-Rubayyi' broke the front tooth of a girl. They asked her family for forgiveness, but they refused, and compensation was offered to them. They came to the Prophet ﷺ, and he ordered retribution. Anas b. al-Nadr said, "O Messenger of Allah, will the front tooth of al-Rubayyi' be broken? By the One who sent you with the truth, it will not be broken." He said, "O Anas, the Book of Allah is retribution." The people were satisfied and forgave. He said, "Among Allah's servants are those who, if they swear by Allah, He fulfills their oath."
