أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَرْحَمُ أُمَّتِي بِأُمَّتِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَأَشَدُّهُمْ فِي أَمْرِ اللهِ عُمَرُ وَأَصْدَقُهُمْ حَيَاءً عُثْمَانُ وَأَقْرَؤُهُمْ لِكِتَابِ اللهِ أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ وَأَفْرَضُهُمْ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ وَأَعْلَمُهُمْ بِالْحَلَالِ وَالْحَرَامِ مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ أَلَا وَإِنَّ لِكُلِّ أَمَةٍ أَمِينًا أَلَا وَإِنَّ أَمِينَ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ»

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ said: "The most merciful of my community to my community is Abu Bakr; the strictest of them in the command of Allah is Umar; the most truthful in modesty is Uthman; the most learned in reciting the Book of Allah is Ubayy b. Ka'b; the most knowledgeable of them in inheritance law is Zayd b. Thabit; and the most learned of them in what is lawful and unlawful is Mu'adh b. Jabal. Indeed, every community has a trustee, and the trustee of this community is Abu Ubaydah b. al-Jarrah."
