أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ قَالَ
كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ سِتَّةُ نَفَرٍ فَقَالَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ اطْرُدْ هَؤُلَاءِ عَنْكَ فَإِنَّهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمْ قَالَ وَكُنْتُ أَنَا وَابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ وَرَجُلٌ مِنْ هُذَيْلٍ وَبِلَالٌ وَرَجُلَانِ نَسِيتُ أَسْمَاءَهُمَا قَالَ «فَوَقَعَ فِي يَعْنِي نَفْسِهِ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ وَحَدَّثَ بِهِ نَفْسَهُ» فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {وَلَا تَطْرُدِ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُمْ بِالْغَدَاةِ} [الأنعام 52] وَالْعَشِيِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُ إِلَى {الظَّالِمِينَ} [الأنعام 52]

✧ We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and we were six men. The polytheists said: "Drive these away from you, for they are..." He said: I, Ibn Mas'ud, a man from Hudhayl, Bilal, and two men whose names I have forgotten were present. He said: "Then something occurred in his mind, meaning himself, whatever Allah willed, and he spoke to himself about it." Then Allah ﷻ revealed: {And do not drive away those who call upon their Lord morning and evening, seeking His face} [al-An'am 52]... to {the wrongdoers} [al-An'am 52].
