أَخْبَرَنَا نُوحُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو

أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي كَمْ يُقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنُ؟ قَالَ «فِي أَرْبَعِينَ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «فِي شَهْرٍ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «فِي عِشْرِينَ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «فِي خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «فِي عَشْرٍ» ثُمَّ لَمْ يَنْزِلْ يَعْنِي مِنْ سَبْعٍ وَهْبٌ لَمْ يَسْمَعْهُ مِنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو

Translation

  6. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr

✧ He asked the Prophet ﷺ: In how many [days] should the Qur'an be read? He said: "In forty." Then he said: "In a month." Then he said: "In twenty." Then he said: "In fifteen." Then he said: "In ten." Then he did not go below – meaning seven. Wahb did not hear it from 'Abdullah b. 'Amr.
