✧ The entry of children into mosques

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا قَتَادَةَ يَقُولُ «بَيْنَا نَحْنُ جُلُوسٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُحْمَلُ أُمَامَةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ وَأُمُّهَا زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهِيَ صَبِيَّةٌ يَحْمِلُهَا عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهِيَ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ يَضَعُهَا إِذَا رَكَعَ وَيُعِيدُهَا إِذَا قَامَ حَتَّى قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ بِهَا»

✧ He heard Abu Qatadah say: "While we were sitting in the mosque, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us carrying Umamah daughter of Abu al-'As b. al-Rabi'—her mother was Zaynab daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ—and she was a small girl. He carried her on his shoulder and prayed while she was on his shoulder. He would put her down when he prostrated and pick her up when he stood, until he finished his prayer, doing that with her."
