أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ عَنْ جَرِيرٍ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ عَنْ فَرْوَةَ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ قَالَ

سَأَلْتُ أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَائِشَةَ بِمَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَدْعُو قَالَتْ كَانَ يَقُولُ «أَعُوذُ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا عَمِلْتُ وَمِنْ يَعْنِي مِنْ شَرِّ مَا لَمْ أَعْمَلْ»

✧ I asked the Mother of the Believers, ʿĀʾishah, "What did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to supplicate with?" She said, "He used to say: 'I seek refuge from the evil of what I have done and from'—meaning—'the evil of what I have not done.'"
