أَخْبَرَنَا وَاصِلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى عَنِ ابْنِ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ كَانَ إِذَا قِيلَ لِزَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ حَدِّثْنَا مَا
سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَا أُحَدِّثُكُمْ إِلَّا مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُحَدِّثُنَا بِهِ وَيَأْمُرُنَا أَنْ نَقُولَهُ «اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ وَالْهَرَمِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ اللهُمَّ آتِ نَفْسِي تَقْوَاهَا أَنْتَ خَيْرُ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا أَنْتَ وَلِيِّهَا وَمَوْلَاهَا اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ نَفْسٍ لَا تَشْبَعُ وَقَلْبٍ لَا يَخْشَعُ وَعِلْمٍ لَا يَنْفَعُ وَدَعْوَةٍ لَا يُسْتَجَابُ لَهَا»
Translation

✧ "Did you hear from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" He said, "I will not narrate to you except what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to narrate to us and command us to say: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from incapacity, laziness, miserliness, cowardice, old age, and the torment of the grave. O Allah, grant my soul its piety; You are the best to purify it; You are its guardian and its master. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from a soul that is never satisfied, a heart that does not humble itself, knowledge that does not benefit, and a supplication that is not answered.'"
