أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ كَثِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ
كُنَّا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فَشَخَصَتْ أَبْصَارُنَا فَجَعَلْنَا نَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ فَقَالَ «أَمَا إِنَّكُمْ سَتَنْظُرُونَ رَبَّكُمْ كَمَا تَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى الْقَمَرِ لَا تُضَامُونَ عَلَى رُؤْيَتِهِ فَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَنْ لَا تُغْلَبُوا عَلَى صَلَاتَيْنِ فَافْعَلُوا صَلَاةٌ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَصَلَاةٌ قَبْلَ غُرُوبِهَا» وَتَلَا {وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ} [طه 130]

✧ We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night, and our eyes were fixed, so we began looking at the moon on the night of the full moon. He said: “Indeed, you will see your Lord as you see the moon; you will not be harmed in seeing Him. So if you are able not to be overcome so as to miss two prayers, then do so: a prayer before sunrise and a prayer before sunset.” Then he recited {And glorify with praise of your Lord} [Ta-Ha 130].
