أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ هُوَ ابْنُ سَرِيعٍ قَالَ وَكَانَ شَاعِرًا قَالَ
أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَا أَنْشُدُكَ مَحَامِدَ حَمِدْتُ بِهَا رَبِّي؟ فَقَالَ «أَمَا إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يُحِبُّ الْمَحَامِدَ وَمَا اسْتَزَادَنِي عَلَى ذَلِكَ»

✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, shall I not recite to you praises with which I praised my Lord? He said: Indeed, your Lord loves praise, and he did not ask me for more than that.
