✧ The Arrogant

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مِقْسَمٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ وَالْأَرْضُ جَمِيعًا قَبْضَتُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ} [الزمر 67] الْآيَةُ قَالَ وَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ بِيَدِهِ هَكَذَا «يُمَجِّدُ الرَّبُّ» وَوَصَفَهُ لَنَا عَفَّانُ يَقْبِضُ يَدَهُ وَيَبْسُطُهَا «أَنَا الْجَبَّارُ أَنَا الْمُتَكَبِّرُ أَنَا الْمَلِكُ أَنَا الْعَزِيزُ أَنَا الْكَرِيمُ» فَرَجَفَ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْمِنْبَرُ حَتَّى قُلْنَا لَيَخِرَّنَّ بِهِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited this verse: {They have not appraised Allah with true appraisal, while the earth entirely will be within His grip on the Day of Resurrection} [al-Zumar 67] to the end of the verse. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ kept saying with his hand like this, "The Lord magnifies Himself." And 'Affan described it to us: he clenches his hand and opens it. "I am the Mighty, I am the Arrogant, I am the King, I am the Exalted in Might, I am the Generous." The pulpit shook with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until we said it would surely fall with him.
