أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يُوعَكُ فَمَسَسْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّكَ تُوعَكُ وَعْكًا شَدِيدًا فَقَالَ «إِنِّي أُوعَكُ كَمَا يُوعَكُ رَجُلَانِ مِنْكُمْ» وَفِي الْحَدِيثِ قُلْتُ إِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرَيْنِ قَالَ نَعَمْ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مُسْلِمٌ يُصِيبُهُ أَذًى مِنْ مَرَضٍ فَمَا سِوَى ذَلِكَ إِلَّا حَطَّ اللهُ عَنْهُ خَطَايَاهُ كَمَا تُحُطُّ الشَّجَرَةُ وَرَقَهَا

Translation

✧ I entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was suffering from a fever. I touched him and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, you are suffering from a severe fever.' He said, 'I suffer a fever like two men of you.' And in the hadith: I said, 'You shall have a double reward.' He said, 'Yes, and by the One in whose hand is my soul, there is no Muslim on the earth who is afflicted with harm from illness or anything else but that Allah removes his sins from him, just as a tree sheds its leaves.'
