أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي حُصَيْنٌ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ بْنَ حُذَيْفَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَمَّتِهِ فَاطِمَةَ
أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ أَتَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي نِسَاءٍ نَعُودُهُ فَإِذَا بِسِقَاءٍ مُغَطًّى عَلَيْهِ مِنْ شِدَّةِ مَا يَجِدُ مِنَ الْحُمَّى قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَوْ دَعَوْتَ اللهَ فَكَشَفَ عَنْكَ قَالَ «إِنَّ مِنْ أَشَدِّ النَّاسِ بَلَاءً الْأَنْبِيَاءُ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ»

✧ She said: We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ among some women to visit him, and there was a covered water-skin over him because of the severity of the fever he was experiencing. I said: “O Messenger of Allah, if only you would pray to Allah and He would relieve you.” He said: “The most severely tried of people are the prophets, then those next to them, then those next to them.”
