✧ The Virtue of Prostration

أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ هِقْلٍ وَهُوَ ابْنُ زِيَادٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ كَعْبٍ الْأَسْلَمِيُّ قَالَ

كُنْتُ آتِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِوَضُوئِهِ وَبِحَاجَتِهِ فَقَالَ «سَلْنِي» فَقُلْتُ مُرَافَقَتَكَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ «أَوْ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ» قُلْتُ هُوَ ذَاكَ قَالَ «فَأَعِنِّي عَلَى نَفْسِكَ بِكَثْرَةِ السُّجُودِ»

✧ I used to bring the Messenger of Allah ﷺ water for his wudu and his needs. He said, “Ask me.” I said, “Your companionship in Paradise.” He said, “Or something other than that?” I said, “It is that.” He said, “Then help me against yourself by frequent prostration.”
