✧ In a relationship with an affair and was not known for his faithfulness until he was punished.

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا «زَنَا بِامْرَأَةٍ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَجُلِدَ الْحَدَّ ثُمَّ أُخْبِرَ أَنَّهُ مُحْصَنٌ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَرُجِمَ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ لَا أَعْلَمَ أَنَّ أَحَدًا رَفَعَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ غَيْرَ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ

✧ A man "committed adultery with a woman, so the Prophet ﷺ ordered that he be flogged as the prescribed punishment. Then he was informed that he was a married person, so he ordered that he be stoned." Abu Abd al-Rahman said: I do not know that anyone raised this hadith except Ibn Wahb.
