أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمُعَلَّى بْنِ يَزِيدَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ هُوَ ابْنُ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الشُّعَيْثِيُّ عَنْ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْجُهَنِيِّ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ اللَّجَّلَاجِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

كُنَّا نَعْمَلَ فِي السُّوقِ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِرَجُلٍ فَرُجِمَ فَجَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ فَسَأَلَنَا مَنْ نَدُلُّهُ عَلَى مَكَانِهِ الَّذِي رُجِمَ فِيهِ؟ فَتَعَلَّقْنَا بِهِ حَتَّى أَتَيْنَا بِهِ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ هَذَا جَاءَ لِيَسْأَلَنَا عَنْ ذَلِكَ الْخَبِيثِ الَّذِي رَجَمْتَ الْيَوْمَ فَقَالُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا تَقُولُوا خَبِيثٌ فَوَاللهِ لَهُوَ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنَ الْمِسْكِ»

✧ We were working in the market when the Messenger of God ﷺ ordered a man to be stoned. Then a man came and asked us: Can you direct me to the place where he was stoned? We seized him and brought him to the Messenger of God ﷺ. We said: O Messenger of God, this man came to ask us about that vile one whom you stoned today. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Do not say vile. By God, he is more fragrant with God than musk.”
