✧ Ma'iz came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: I have committed adultery. He turned away from him until the fifth time, then he turned to him and said: "Did you have intercourse with her, so that it disappeared from you into her?" He said: Yes. He said: "As the kohl stick disappears into the kohl container, or as the rope disappears into the well?" He said: Yes. He said: "Do you know what adultery is?" He said: I did with her a forbidden act, as a man does with his wife lawfully. He said: "What do you want?" He said: I want you to purify me. So he ordered him to be stoned, and he was stoned. The Prophet ﷺ heard two men from his companions saying to each other: Look at this one whom Allah concealed, yet his soul did not let him be until he was stoned like a dog. And he mentioned a word whose meaning was: He saw the carcass of a donkey with its leg raised, and he said to so-and-so and so-and-so: "Come near and eat from the carcass of this donkey." They said: May Allah forgive you, can a carcass be eaten? He said: "What you have said about your brother is greater than that. By the One in whose hand is my soul, he is indeed in the rivers of Paradise, plunging into them."
