al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 7087

✧ Interpretation of the saying of Allah, Exalted is His glory: "And [they are] those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty." [al-Furqan: 68]

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ مِغْوَلٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ وَاصِلَ بْنَ حَيَّانَ ذَكَرَ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ قَالَ

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ ذَنْبٍ أَعْظَمُ؟ قَالَ «أَنْ تَجْعَلَ لِلَّهِ نِدًّا وَهُوَ خَلَقَكَ» قُلْتُ ثُمَّ أَيُّ؟ قَالَ «أَنْ تَقْتُلَ وَلَدَكَ مِنْ أَجْلِ أَنْ يَطْعَمَ مَعَكَ» قُلْتُ ثُمَّ أَيُّ؟ قَالَ «أَنْ تُزَانِيَ حَلِيلَةَ جَارِكَ» ثُمَّ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَدْعُونَ مَعَ اللهِ إِلَهًا آخَرَ} [الفرقان 68] إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {يَلْقَ أَثَامًا} [الفرقان 68]

✧ Abdullah said: I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, which sin is greatest?" He said, "That you set up a rival to Allah when He created you." I said, "Then which?" He said, "That you kill your child because he may eat with you." I said, "Then which?" He said, "That you commit adultery with your neighbor's wife." Then he recited this verse: "And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity..." [al-Furqan: 68] up to His saying: "...will meet a penalty." [al-Furqan: 68]
