al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 7086

✧ Interpretation of the saying of Allah, Exalted is His glory: "And [they are] those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty." [al-Furqan: 68]

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَيُّ الذَّنْبِ أَعْظَمُ عِنْدَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «أَنْ تَجْعَلَ لِلَّهِ نِدًّا وَهُوَ خَلَقَكَ» قُلْتُ إِنَّ ذَلِكَ لَعَظِيمٌ قُلْتُ ثُمَّ أَيُّ؟ قَالَ «ثُمَّ تَقْتُلُ وَلَدَكَ تَخَافُ أَنْ يَطْعَمَ مَعَكَ» قُلْتُ ثُمَّ أَيُّ؟ قَالَ «أَنْ تُزَانِيَ حَلِيلَةَ جَارِكَ»

✧ I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Which sin is greatest in the sight of Allah?" He said, "That you set up a rival to Allah when He created you." I said, "That is indeed great." I said, "Then which?" He said, "Then that you kill your child for fear that he may eat with you." I said, "Then which?" He said, "That you commit adultery with your neighbor's wife."
