What the Prophet ﷺ used to say during his illness

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ سَفِينَةَ مَوْلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ

كَانَ عَامَّةُ وَصِيَّةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ «الصَّلَاةَ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ» فَجَعَلَ يُرَدِّدُهَا حَتَّى يُلَجْلِجُهَا فِي صَدْرِهِ وَمَا يُفِيضُ رَوَاهُ سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ سَفِينَةَ عَنِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Qutaybah b. Saʿīd
  2. Abū ʿAwānah
  3. Qatādah
  4. Safīnah a freed slave of Um Salamah

✧ The main counsel of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was, “Prayer and what your right hands possess.” He kept repeating it until he stammered it in his chest and could not utter it. Saʿid b. Abi ʿArubah narrated it from Qatadah, from Safinah, from Umm Salamah.
