How the Prophet ﷺ used to treat himself during his Illness

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ وَأَخْبَرَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ قَالَ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ فِي وَجَعِهِ الَّذِي قُبِضَ فِيهِ «صُبُّوا عَلَيَّ مِنْ سَبْعِ قِرَبٍ لَمْ تُحْلَلْ أَوْكِيَتُهُنَّ لَعَلِّي أَعْهَدُ إِلَى النَّاسِ» فَأَجْلَسْنَاهُ فِي مِخْضَبٍ لِحَفْصَةَ فَمَا زِلْنَا نَصُبُّ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى طَفِقَ يُشِيرُعَلَيْنَا أَنْ قَدْ فَعَلْتُنَّ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ خَالَفَهُمَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ فَرَوَاهُ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ وَيُونُسَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ

✧ The Prophet ﷺ said during his illness in which he was taken: “Pour over me from seven water skins whose mouths have not been untied, so that I may give counsel to the people.” We seated him in a basin belonging to Hafsah, and we kept pouring over him until he began to gesture to us that you have done enough. Abu 'Abd al-Rahman said: 'Abd Allah b. al-Mubarak contradicted the two of them and narrated it from Ma'mar and Yunus, from al-Zuhri, from 'Ubayd Allah, from 'A'ishah.
