✧ Can someone be held accountable for someone else's crime?

أَخْبَرَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَشْعَثَ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ زَهْدَمٍ الْيَرْبُوعِيِّ قَالَ

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَجَاءَ أُنَاسٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَؤُلَاءِ بَنُو ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ يَرْبُوعٍ قَتَلُوا فُلَانًا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَهَتَفَ بِصَوْتِهِ «أَلَا لَا تَجْنِي نَفْسٌ عَلَى أُخْرَى»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ was delivering a sermon when some people from the Ansar came and said: "O Messenger of Allah, these are the Banu Tha'labah b. Yarbu'; they killed so-and-so in the pre-Islamic era." The Prophet ﷺ raised his voice and said: "Indeed, no soul shall bear the sin of another."
