✧ Prohibition of all intoxicating beverages

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ جَيْشَانَ وَجَيْشَانُ مِنَ الْيَمَنِ قَدِمَ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ شَرَابٍ يَشْرَبُونَهُ بِأَرْضِهِمْ مِنَ الذُّرَةِ يُقَالُ لَهُ الْمِزْرُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَوَ مُسْكِرٌ هُوَ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «كُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ إِنَّ اللهَ عَهِدَ إِلَيَّ لِمَنْ شَرِبَ الْمُسْكِرَ يَسْقِيهِ مِنْ طِينَةِ الْخَبَالِ» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَمَا طِينَةُ الْخَبَالِ؟ قَالَ «عَرَقُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ أَوْ عُصَارَةُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ»

✧ A man from Jayshan—and Jayshan is in Yemen—came and asked the Prophet ﷺ about a drink they drink in their land made from corn, called mizr. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Is it intoxicating?" He said, "Yes." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Every intoxicant is unlawful. Indeed, Allah has covenanted with me that whoever drinks an intoxicant will be given to drink from the mud of khabal." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, what is the mud of khabal?" He said, "The sweat of the people of the Fire, or the pus of the people of the Fire."
