أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَابِرٍ عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَا مَلَأَ آدَمِيٌّ وِعَاءً شَرًّا مِنْ بَطْنٍ حَسْبُ ابْنِ آدَمَ لُقْمَاتٌ يُقِمْنَ صُلْبَهُ فَإِنْ غَلَبَتْهُ نَفْسُهُ فَثُلُثٌ طَعَامٌ وَثُلُثٌ شَرَابٌ وَثُلُثٌ لِلنَّفَسِ»

✧ On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ, he said: “No human being fills a vessel worse than his stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to have a few morsels to keep his back straight. But if his self overcomes him, then a third for food, a third for drink, and a third for breath.”
