أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ قَالَ

قَالَ عُمَرُ «إِنَّكُمْ تَأْكُلُونَ طَعَامًا خَبِيثًا هَاتَيْنِ الشَّجَرَتَيْنِ الْبَصَلَ وَالثُّومَ فَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ آكِلِيهِمَا فَاقْتُلُوهُمَا بِالنُّضْجِ»

Translation

✧ Umar said: "You eat foul food: these two plants, onions and garlic. If you must eat them, kill them by thorough cooking."
