✧ The bread

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ خَالِدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

«مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَوْلَمَ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ مَا أَوْلَمَ عَلَى صَفِيَّةَ» قَالَ ثَابِتٌ مَا أَطْعَمَهُمْ؟ قَالَ خُبْزًا وَلَحْمًا حَتَّى تَرَكُوهُ قَالَ مَا أَصْدَقَهَا؟ قَالَ نَفْسَهَا أَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا

Translation

✧ I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ hold a wedding feast for any of his wives like the feast he held for Safiyyah. Thabit said, “What did he feed them?” He said, “Bread and meat, until they left it.” He said, “What did he give her as a dowry?” He said, “Her own self - he freed her and married her.”
