أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا طَلْحَةُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

أَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِيَدِي إِلَى مَنْزِلِهِ فَلَمَّا انْتَهَيْنَا أَخْرَجُوا طَبَقًا عَلَيْهِ فَلْقٌ مِنْ خُبْزٍ فَأَكَلَ قَالَ «أَمَا مِنْ أُدْمٍ؟» قَالُوا لَا إِلَّا شَيْءً مِنْ خَلٍّ قَالَ «الْخَلُّ نِعْمَ الْأُدُمُ» قَالَ جَابِرٌ فَمَا زِلْتُ أُحِبُّهُ مُنْذُ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took me by the hand to his house. When we arrived, they brought out a plate on which there were broken pieces of bread, and he ate. He said, “Is there no condiment?” They said, “No, except a little vinegar.” He said, “Vinegar is an excellent condiment.” Jabir said: I have not ceased to love it since I heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
