أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ قَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ لِأُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ لَقَدْ

سَمِعْتُ صَوْتَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ضَعِيفًا أَعْرِفُ فِيهِ الْجُوعَ فَهَلْ عِنْدَكَ شَيْءٌ؟ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ فَأَخْرَجَتْ لَهُ أَقْرَاصًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ ثُمَّ أَخَذَتْ خِمَارًا لَهَا فَلَفَّتِ الْخُبْزَ ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَتْنِي إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَوَجَدْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ جَالِسًا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَمَعَهُ النَّاسُ فَقُمْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَرْسَلَكَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ؟ فَقُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِمَنْ مَعَهُ «قُومُوا» وَانْطَلَقْتُ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَجِئْتُ أَبَا طَلْحَةَ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ قَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ يَا أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ قَدْ جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَيْسَ عِنْدَنَا مِنَ الطَّعَامِ مَا نُطْعِمُهُمْ قَالَتِ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَانْطَلَقَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ حَتَّى لَقِيَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَقْبَلَ هُوَ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى دَخَلَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «هَلُمَّ يَا أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ مَا عِنْدَكِ؟» فَأَتَتْ بِذَلِكَ الْخُبْزِ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَفُتَّ وَعَصَرَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ عُكَّةً لَهَا فَأَدَمَتْهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَقُولَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «ائْذَنْ لِعَشَرَةٍ» فَأَذِنَ لَهُمْ فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا ثُمَّ خَرَجُوا ثُمَّ قَالَ «ائْذَنْ لِعَشَرَةٍ» فَأَذِنَ لَهُمْ فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا ثُمَّ خَرَجُوا ثُمَّ قَالَ «ائْذَنْ لِعَشَرَةٍ» فَأَذِنْ لَهُمْ فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا ثُمَّ خَرَجُوا وَالْقَوْمُ سَبْعُونَ أَوْ ثَمَانُونَ رَجُلًا

✧ I heard the voice of the Messenger of God ﷺ, weak, and I recognized hunger in it. “Do you have anything?” She said: “Yes.” She brought out some loaves of barley, then took a veil of hers, wrapped the bread in it, and sent me to the Messenger of God ﷺ. I found the Messenger of God ﷺ sitting in the mosque with people around him. I stood before them, and the Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Did Abū Ṭalḥah send you?” I said: “Yes.” The Messenger of God ﷺ said to those with him: “Get up.” I went ahead of them and came to Abū Ṭalḥah and told him. Abū Ṭalḥah said: “O Umm Sulaym, the Messenger of God ﷺ has come, but we do not have enough food to feed them.” She said: “God and His Messenger know best.” Abū Ṭalḥah went out until he met the Messenger of God ﷺ, and he and the Messenger of God ﷺ came in. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Bring what you have, O Umm Sulaym.” She brought that bread, and the Messenger of God ﷺ ordered it to be broken into pieces. Umm Sulaym squeezed a butter-skin she had and used it as a condiment. Then the Messenger of God ﷺ said over it whatever God willed him to say. Then he said: “Give permission to ten.” So he permitted them, and they ate until they were full, then left. Then he said: “Give permission to ten.” So he permitted them, and they ate until they were full, then left. Then he said: “Give permission to ten.” So he permitted them, and they ate until they were full, then left. The people were seventy or eighty men.”
