أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرٌ عَنِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ وَأَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ

أَصَابَ عُمَرُ أَرْضًا بِخَيْبَرَ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَاسْتَأْمَرَهُ فِيهَا فَقَالَ إِنِّي أَصَبْتُ أَرْضًا بِخَيْبَرَ لَمْ أُصِبْ مَالًا قَطُّ أَنْفَسَ عِنْدِي مِنْهُ فَمَا تَأْمُرُ فِيهَا؟ قَالَ «إِنْ شِئْتَ حَبَّسْتَ أَصْلَهَا وَتَصَدَّقْتَ بِهَا» فَتَصَدَّقَ بِهَا عَلَى أَنَّهُ لَا يُبَاعُ أَصْلُهَا وَلَا يُوهَبُ وَلَا يُورَثُ فَتَصَدَّقَ بِهَا فِي الْفُقَرَاءِ أَوِ الْقُرْبَى وَفِي الرِّقَابِ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ وَالضَّيْفِ لَا جُنَاحَ ثُمَّ انْقَطَعَ عَلَى أَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ أَوْ يُطْعِمَ صَدِيقًا غَيْرَ مُتَمَوِّلٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لِإِسْمَاعِيلَ

✧ Umar acquired land at Khaybar. He came to the Prophet ﷺ and sought his counsel regarding it, saying, "I have acquired land at Khaybar such that I have never acquired property more precious to me than it, so what do you command regarding it?" He said, "If you wish, you may hold back its principal and give it in charity." So he gave it in charity on condition that its principal not be sold, given as a gift, or inherited. He gave it in charity for the poor, the relatives, the freeing of slaves, in the cause of God, the wayfarer, and the guest—there is no blame..." Then the transmission was cut off for Abu Mu'awiyah: "or to feed a friend, without enriching himself." The wording is that of Isma'il.
