أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ الدَّسْتُوَائِيَّ وَهُوَ هِشَامُ بْنُ سَنْبَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

اشْتَكَيْتُ وَعِنْدِي سَبْعُ أَخَوَاتٍ لِي فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَنَفَخَ فِي وَجْهِي فَأَفَقْتُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَا أُوصِي لِأَخَوَاتِي بِالثُّلُثَيْنِ؟ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ وَتَرَكَنِي ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَيَّ فَقَالَ إِنِّي لَا أَرَاكَ مَيِّتًا مِنْ وَجَعِكَ هَذَا وَإِنَّ اللهَ قَدْ أَنْزَلَ فَبَيَّنَ الَّذِي لِأَخَوَاتِكَ فَجَعَلَ لَهُنَّ الثُّلُثَيْنِ فَكَانَ جَابِرٌ يَقُولُ أُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ فِيَّ {يَسْتَفْتُونَكَ قُلِ اللهُ يُفْتِيكُمْ فِي الْكَلَالَةِ} [النساء 176]

✧ I fell ill, and I had seven sisters. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me and blew into my face, and I regained consciousness. I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, shall I bequeath two-thirds to my sisters?' Then he left me. Then he returned to me and said, 'I do not think you will die from this illness of yours. Allah has revealed and clarified what is for your sisters, and He has allotted them two-thirds.' Jabir used to say: This verse was revealed about me: 'They ask you for a ruling. Say: Allah gives you a ruling concerning one who has neither descendants nor ascendants as heirs' [Quran 4:176].
