✧ Selling Dates with Different Dates

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ قَالَ

كُنَّا نُرْزَقُ تَمْرَ الْجَمْعِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَنَبِيعُ الصَّاعَيْنِ بِالصَّاعِ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «لَا صَاعَيْ تَمْرٍ بِصَاعٍ وَلَا صَاعَيْ حِنْطَةٍ بِصَاعٍ وَلَا دِرْهَمًا بِدِرْهَمَيْنِ»

✧ We used to be given mixed dates as provisions in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and we would sell two sa's for one sa'. That reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: "No two sa's of dates for one sa', nor two sa's of wheat for one sa', nor a dirham for two dirhams."
