✧ The testimony of a woman regarding her own action

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ الْبَلْخِيُّ وَيَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ عُقْبَةَ وَلَكِنِّي لِحَدِيثِ عُبَيْدٍ أَحْفَظُ قَالَ تَزَوَّجْتُ امْرَأَةً فَجَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ فَقَالَتْ

إِنِّي قَدْ أَرْضَعْتُكُمَا فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ إِنِّي قَدْ تَزَوَّجْتُ فُلَانَةَ بِنْتَ فُلَانٍ فَجَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي قَدْ أَرْضَعْتُكُمَا وَهِيَ كَاذِبَةٌ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي فَأَتَيْتُهُ مِنْ قِبَلِ وَجْهِهِ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّهَا كَاذِبَةٌ فَقَالَ «كَيْفَ بِهَا وَقَدْ زَعَمَتْ أَنَّهَا قَدْ أَرْضَعَتْكُمَا دَعْهَا عَنْكَ»

✧ She said: 'I have breastfed both of you.' So I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'I have married so-and-so daughter of so-and-so. Then a black woman came and said: "I have breastfed both of you," but she is lying.' He turned away from me, so I came to him from in front of his face and said: 'She is lying.' He said: 'How can you be with her when she has claimed that she breastfed both of you? Leave her.'
