✧ What is preferred for the scholar when asked who knows the most, to attribute knowledge to Allah, should the scholar be given an honorable position to identify the stranger when he comes?

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ أَبِي فَرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَرِيرٍ
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَأَبِي ذَرٍّ قَالَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَجْلِسُ بَيْنَ ظَهْرَانَيْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَيَجِيءُ الْغَرِيبُ فَلَا يَدْرِي أَيُّهُمْ هُوَ حَتَّى يَسْأَلَ فَطَلَبْنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَجْعَلَ لَهُ مَجْلِسًا فَيَعْرِفُهُ الْغَرِيبُ إِذَا أَتَاهُ فَبَنَيْنَا لَهُ دُكَّانًا مِنْ طِينٍ فَكَانَ يَجْلِسُ عَلَيْهِ وَكُنَّا نَجْلِسُ بِجَانِبَيْهِ سِمَاطَيْنِ»

✧ From Abu Hurayrah and Abu Dharr, they said: The Messenger of God ﷺ used to sit among his companions, and a stranger would come and not know who he was until he asked. So we asked the Messenger of God ﷺ to make a seat for him so that a stranger would recognize him when he came. We built for him a bench of clay, and he used to sit on it, and we would sit on either side of him in two lines.
