أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ مَوْلَى الْمُنْبَعِثِ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سُئِلَ عَنِ اللُّقَطَةِ فَقَالَ «اعْرِفْ عِفَاصَهَا وَوِكَاءَهَا وَعَرِّفْهَا سَنَةً فَإِنِ اعْتُرِفَتْ وَإِلَّا فَاخْلِطْهَا بِمَالِكَ»

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ was asked about lost property. He said: “Note its purse-string and its tie, and announce it for a year. If it is recognized (by its owner), fine; otherwise, mix it with your own wealth.”
