أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُوسَى قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ اسْتَعَارَ مِنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ دُرُوعًا فَهَلَكَ بَعْضُهَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنْ شِئْتَ غَرِمْنَاهَا» قَالَ لَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ borrowed from Safwan b. Umayya coats of mail, and some of them were lost. The Messenger of God ﷺ said, “If you wish, we will compensate for them.” He said, “No, O Messenger of God.”
