أَخْبَرَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزِّرَاعُ الْبَصْرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ هُوَ ابْنُ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ هُوَ ابْنُ حَسَّانٍ عَنْ حَفْصَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ قَالَتْ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا تُحِدُّ امْرَأَةٌ عَلَى مَيِّتٍ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ إِلَّا عَلَى زَوْجٍ فَإِنَّهَا تُحِدُّ عَلَيْهِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا وَلَا تَلْبَسُ ثَوْبًا مَصْبُوغًا إِلَّا ثَوْبَ عَصْبٍ وَلَا تَكْتَحِلُ وَلَا تَمْتَشِطُ وَلَا تَمَسُّ طِيبًا إِلَّا عِنْدَ طُهْرِهَا حِينَ تَطْهُرُ نُبِذَ مِنْ قُسْطٍ وَأَظْفَارٍ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “A woman must not mourn a deceased person for more than three days, except for her husband; she mourns him for four months and ten days. She must not wear dyed clothing except a garment of ʿaṣb (a Yemeni fabric patterned with stripes), and she must not apply kohl, comb her hair, or touch perfume, except when she purifies herself after menstruation, a little of qust and aẓfār (types of incense) may be used.”
