✧ Conversion of one of the spouses to Islam and the choice of the child

أَخْبَرَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ هُوَ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ الْبَتِّيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَنَّهُ §أَسْلَمَ وَأَبَتَّ امْرَأَتَهُ

أَنْ تُسْلِمَ فَجَاءَ ابْنٌ لَهَا صَغِيرٌ لَمْ يَبْلُغْ فَأَجْلَسَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْأَبَ هَاهُنَا وَالْأُمَّ هَاهُنَا ثُمَّ خَيَّرَهُ فَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ اهْدِهِ» فَذَهَبَ إِلَى أَبِيهِ

✧ A woman became Muslim, and her young son who had not reached puberty came. The Prophet ﷺ seated the father here and the mother here, then gave him the choice and said: “O God, guide him.” So he went to his father.
